films and tv 2015

Margaret. It's the little girl from The Piano.

I want you. That odd thing with primary colours and more Rachel Weisz.

The Deep Blue Sea.  I am going through a Rachel Weisz period.

October Gale.  Patricia Clarkson is terrific to watch.

Jude. Oh, superb. Never stops being amazing.

Unforgotten. This was excellent.

Serena. Slow moving into disaster.

Force Majeure. I don't like winter, I hate skiing. But this was good.

Salting the Battlefield. A good thriller.Everything with Bill Nighy is good.

Turcs and Caicos. Well yes, all the bad boys and one woman. And Bill Nighy.

Wild. Yes, we all liked it. I used to go on long walks in another life time.

Whiplash. Good jazz. Lousy story.

Citizenfour. A must see.

St. Vincent. Pathetic with a capital P.

The Homesman. The hardship, the loneliness, gruesome.

The Imitation Game. Very British movie.

Selma. Must see, obviously. Especially now.

Pride. Yes, we remember. It was a tough time. And hard to believe that some of it was cut for the sensitive US audience? ???

The Drop. Straightforward. Or not? Good one.

Mister Turner. Stunning images, excellent acting. A joy.

Nightcrawler. Nasty stuff.

Two Days, One Night. Profoundly affecting, so they say. I was too tired.

The Theory of Everything. Straight forward story telling and obviously excellent acting.

The Salvation. One for the boys.

The Salt of the Earth. Absolutely stunning, moving. Must never forget that I watched this.

Jimmy's Hall. Of course, this is a good movie.

Rectify. Brilliant binge watching.

Calvary. Deep and confusing, too much to analyse. Great, brilliant actors. And Ben Bulben in the background.

A most wanted man. It takes a minnow to catch a barracuda...

Gone Girl. Crap. Totally.

Ida. Stunning. Haunting. Perfect.

Die geliebten Schwestern. Oh the dashing young poets and their secrets.

Arvingerne (The Legacy). Ahh the Danes know how to do this. Those handheld cameras, the long slow shots and women who not anorexic and often without any makeup at all.

The Music Never Stopped. Ok-ish.

Wolf Hall. Superior.

The Great Budapest Hotel. And the plot thickened and thickened and thickened.

Night Will Fall.

Happy People. Well, actually it should be called Happy Men. Lots of snow and ice and hunting. But Werner Herzog's relaxing voice makes up for any short comings.

Labour Day. Pity that it didn't end with the arrest. Would have been a great film.

The Two Faces of January. All the Greek myths in a thriller. Plus Viggo Mortensen.
